Can you use a Gamecube controller with the Wii U?

I can't imagine games like Super Smash Bros are going to be particularly fantastic if you can't...

There's no ports for those in Wii U, so you can't. But why should one? The GamePad has all the buttons needed and even more.

You really don't know much about the Wii U huh?

No it doesn't support GC controllers, but there is always the Wii U Pro Controller.

But you can only use one GamePad at a time, can't you? And I can't imagine that it's designed for long-term use with just the buttons.

Nope, this is how I find out about it.

I guess it's ok if there's a Pro controller, though tbh I'd still much rather be using the GameCube controller.

No gamecube controllers.
Multiple pro controllers connected at the same time.
2 game pads at once.
Multiple wii motion plus controllers at same time.
Use classic controller for VC
bunch of bs. too many ****ing controllers.

The Wii U Pro (or classic controller pro since they have similar layouts) aren't exactly ideal for smash games. Mainly for tap-jumpers and "c-stick" players.

It's doable, but it'll be awkward for us button-jumpers. C-sticking players won't have AS bad a time, but the adjustment will still be obvious.

Gamepad =/= procontroller. Gamepad is the tablet controller.
