Wii U Automatic Shutoff Feature

As long as it's optional, then I see no problem with it.

I also heard if you wait long enough the Wii U evolves into an Xbox. So you get your moneys worth.

that would be a "devolution"

Good to know. I had a terrible time with my younger brother falling asleep with the PS3 on until I discovered the same feature there, off by default. Hearing of IGN suffering, even if just a little, also brought a smile to my face.

Wow, way to fail Nintendo. When will they learn that mature gamers who are mature and like the 360 don't want to be treated like babies.

Not getting the Wii U now.

the 360 shuts off after a while

To be fair, the PS3 has this feature as well. Don't think it's set as default to shut off though.

It can be shut off, which is great. I think ps3 has an auto off as well.

Not when playing a game though

Yes, the PS3 has an auto-off function that works while a game is running.

I don't see why this is something that needs to be worried about. Like others have said, if you're going to be away from your system for awhile, then just shut it off. Back on the older games it made sense to leave a game running because most had far spread save points or even none at all on the NES games. These days though, games are filled with checkpoints and auto saves and manually saving at any time you want. So what if you might have to play like 10-20 minutes of the game from your last save point. I would much rather do that then leave the system running, having it overheating, slowly wasting it's lifespan. If that's the kind of thing that people are doing then it's no wonder there has been so many system failures this generation.

Not really a big deal most electronics from the last few years have this built in. As long as it can be shut off in a menu somewhere who cares.
