So what if the graphics aren't as good as PS3 or 360?

Since when do graphics make a great game? The Wii's graphics weren't as good either but it was still a better system than those two. People need to stop complaining and just enjoy the games. We don't need 360 bit graphics.

Because from a business standpoint- that would be inexcusable. You can't release something worse than 6 year-old tech and just give it a fancy screen controller that alot of people see as a gimmick anyway. As much as people don't like to think it- graphics do matter. They sell games.

Exactly, even if WiiU had 16-bit graphics, the games could still be lots of fun, but it's not acceptable by the market standards.

First off, the graphics are as good and will become better.* Graphics do matter but that's not to say that they have to be "better than real life" --- they just have to mesh with the gameplay and scenario to create the intended atmosphere.

Also, lol at 360 bit graphics.

*Of course, it's up to the developers. There is of course an upper limit which takes time and effort to reach... while there is no lower limit and any console can support crap...

Since when has Nintendo ever followed the market.

first ever to have a hand held
first to have motion controllers
first 3D game (Mario 64)
the birth mother of all FPS (Goldeneye)
first 3D screen that needed no glasses

yeah Nintendo must be stupid....

even when the 64 was out when the PS1 was, it still did better than Sony.

Wii came out and they were almost imposable to find even though it was a last gen console, even then.

yet when PS3 and Xbox came out you could find them anywhere..hell i got one of my first PS3 at Kmart 2 days after launch with no reserve.

Nintendo will always be a better console even when they are not the best console. graphics don't make games...game play does

P.S. i have PS3 and 360 too, and i love them both but people need to understand that Nintendo has been doing this so much longer than anyone and they are more times than not on top.

New generation always aims for better graphics. Many people likes good graphics and if wii u couldn't beat 6 year old hardware it would be downright ridiculous.

Graphics are on par, if not slightly better than 360/PS3. That's not opinion - that's a fact.

However, while it may seem like a fairly small jump, and not this 'generational leap' people seem to have expected, you need to look at how graphics evolve over the lifespan of the console. 5 years down the line, games will be coming out for the Wii U that blow the current games out of the water (graphically, at least).

To understand what I'm talking about:

PS3 FFVII Tech Demo (Shown at E3 2005; pre-rendered video)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cv8cYrGG220

The Last of Us Gameplay Footage (Shown at E3 2012; rendered real-time)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ZYkj0glnqs

The difference is huge, and the second is real-time rather than pre-rendered.

TL;DR: Gonna get better than it is.
