Sd tv's are called "sd" because, well they're the STANDARD. Why waste money and inflate the price if the standard def. (480p) still exists?

The unfunny joke aside, just because something is labeled as a standard, doesn't mean everything else better doesn't have a point. How about we call the black and white TV standard definition. Are you going to argue the point of not buying a color television?

I'm not too sure if this is a serious topic or not. HD televisions are much cheaper now than they were just a few years ago, so there's not really a point in buying an SD tv. In a few years, there probably won't be a ton of big, clunky SD tv's around.

My 55" Insignia 1080p LED cost me $899... and that was this time last year. Haven't kept up on it lately, I can't even imagine what kind of deals you can get nowadays.
