Disc drive read speed?

Anyone know? Since this is essentially a "custom" Blu Ray drive, I would assume 4-6X speed.

It reads at about 22mbps vs the 16mbps of the 360 and the 9mbps of the PS3.

22.5 actually, and yes, it's faster than both 360s and PS3's drives. And no, it doesn't use Blu-ray at all, all proprietary (maybe a hint of some blu-ray stuff, but not licensed as blu-ray.)

Everything we know about how it works is exactly like blu-ray tech. Just because they aren't licensing the name and movie playback doesn't mean that it is a new tech.

We shall see about that =P This is from the company who said it would take more than a firmware update to enable DVD playback on Wii... and then homebrewers got DVD movies loading on there =P

But I suppose you're technically correct its a bluray with slight modifications for anti-piracy purposes =)
