Why don't we have a new F-Zero game?

In all honesty why haven't we had a new F-Zero game all these years? Seems like the market is ripe for a sci-fi racer. Maybe they didn't want to compete with their own Mario Kart IP?

Because getting a new F-Zero game would actually be a GOOD decision Nintendo has made recently. So, naturally, it hasn't happened yet.

Miyamoto did make it sound like one will come at some point.
I guess more patience is needed.

Miyamoto doesn't run Nintendo, contrary to popular belief.

Besides, the last F-Zero console game wasn't even made at Nintendo. It was made by Sega!

Because F-Zero was never that huge to begin with. People only liked the first one because it had that spiffy mode 7 tech. After that hardly anybody cared and it was just another racing game. There's tons of em and they're all pretty much the same.

Mario Kart is much more well known therefore it will sell many more copies than F-Zero could ever dream of.
