Whelp, bricked

About 20 minutes in to downloading the system update the power goes out. Power comes back on a minute later - Wii U will power on but no video output and controller won't sync to it. On hold with customer service, but I doubt they'll have any good news.

Joy.

Amazing how many people's power goes out during updates. Hope you get it fixed.

A power failure causing bricking during an update would be an embarrassing flaw easily avoided with modern hardware.

People who are scared about all these horror stories should realize.
A. Person is trolling
B. Person is telling truth and it sucks they have to have one of the few systems with problems.
C. All the people who have a working wiiU are too busy playing and won't post on forums. Which means forums are mainly full of Trolls, unfortunate souls with broken wiiU's, or people waiting/interested in a wiiU.

I have a working wiiU, have updated it, and played it a couple hours before work. I personally love the system.

It should not be a problem if the power goes out while downloading... it should only be a problem if it goes out while actually installing. Unless Nintendo set things up some crazy nonsensical way.

Not really. It's the same concept as turning a console off during an update now. Only the power going out is outside their control.
