1 GB is still too big of an update to have on ****ing launch day

Except it's not.

Except it is, name one system that had a 1gb update on launch day.

If it takes 1 hr to download... It may as well been 5 GIGs anyways...

This thing is extremely slow

And then you would have waited 5 hours for the download instead of only one.

My Internet connection is faster than urs..

If it was 5 gigs it would've been downloaded in 15 minutes...

Yet here I am NOT playing my console 1 hrs later

Question:- Why is this update needed? is it anything system critical??

I ask because a friend of mine is buying one when they launch in the UK and he has no internet access at all. He has no PC so doesn't see the point of getting broadband.

Is he going to have problems because he can't update his machine??

Thanks for any info on this

Except it is. Oh wait it's Baha. Seems like you've finally migrated away from the crappy Wii board.

Is not a console per se, but the iPod, iPhone and iPad iOS 6 had a 800MB-1.5GB firmware update day one (changes according to the device)

Well chances are the 360 and PS3 had something close to it, because well those are the only other consoles that have firmware.

BEcause they didnt want any leaked reviews of it, so a day 1 update was the most reliable way.

Meanwhile, its not nintendos choice. They are following the law on the .50c cost for minors.

Yeah can't have "leaked" reviews of the console playing Wii games

My broadband got nothing to do with this.
If it took you one hour to download 1 GB, then it's impossible that 5 GB would have taken you 15 minutes.
