Quick question, during the auto-update can the inactive system shut-down happen?

While the update is running it tells you that the auto update will be disabled while its running. --- "you cant call it piracy if they wont sell it to you in the first place." -Fallenswords FCs, PSN and Gamertag in profile

Firstly, as said in the article, this feature can be turned off.
No, it won't auto-shutdown during a system update.
In fact, whenever you do Any kind of update after that system update, it tells you point blank that the auto-shutdown feature has been temporarily disabled.
