Best external HDD for Wii-U

So does anyone have any recommended external HDDs that are known to work well with the Wii-U? I'm looking to buy one and don't want to get home and find out it doesn't work right with the Wii-U without a y cable or something.

Was considering this but I would like to know if it needs a y-cable to get enough juice.

The US$7 is insurance. The actual price of the hard drive is somewhat unknown, as it isn't sold online and therefore the link is a little bit pointless.

It's $69.99. You see the price when you click "see low price in cart"

I'm just gonna take the 7200rpm 500GB HDD out of my laptop and put it in an enclosure since I don't need it anymore.

Yeah, I can see the benefits of that. It's just I want to have something that can be "hidden" easily behind the system since it's all hooked up in my entertainment center.
Thus, small.
