I have and it works great.

I bought my system at a local Meijer at midnight and they didn't have either of the games I wanted. (Mario U and Nintendoland) I planned on going out the next morning and attempting to purchase both. When I got home I realized both games were in the eShop so I downloaded both to the system. I have a 1TB drive hooked up.

Both games installed with no issue and play fine.

The drive I'm using is a full sized drive with a dedicated power supply. I originally tried a portable drive with a y-cable and the system had issues powering it.

Great to hear, I'm planning on getting a portable hard drive with a dedicated power source as well. I wondered about it's stream capability only because the USB ports are 2.0 instead of 3.0 so I must say I'm surprised that it's running fine but I'm not complaining.
