Lost all my Virutal Console/WiiWare Purchases

#341Neo VejiitaPosted 11/21/2012 8:51:25 AM
This is one of the reasons I decided to spend less on the virtual console than I otherwise would have. My wii had a noisy drive so I took it apart and fixed it, but if it ever does I lose all my content :(

It is also why I don't buy many things on the 3ds store. The ideal way to do it would be to follow microsoft's example. Soby's way is too easy to abuse but Microsoft got it right. Offline access on the original console you bought the content on, and online access to it on other consoles, and the option periodically to reset your licenses and redefine what the home console is.

I got an original wii from launch and sold it sometime in 2008? I too purchased nearly $300 worth of items. Back then I didnt know that your wii downloads were tied to your system. A friend gave me his wii and when I couldnt bring my purchases to that new wii, i just sold the second wii and gave up. Its ridiculous that your purchases arent tied to your nintendo account. I didnt have a wii to transfer my games to wii u. Nintendo needs to fix it. I'm not buying any digital downloads from them until they do.

... How did you miss the vast multitude of things telling you it was tied to the system? Seriously, an overwhelming majority of Wii users, including those on GameFAQs, all knew their purchases were tied to the system... so clearly, this was public information, and you failed to educate yourself.

Nintendo's piss poor online/Friend Code system is the only thing that wards me off buying a WiiU. I'm a largely solitary(Most of my friends go to school out of state/country during the non-summer months) gamer who plays online for most of his multiplayer experience, and Nintendo's always been shafting online gamers. Coupled with that is the fact that I've lost more than 100 dollars worth of Wii and 3DS DD due to floods and a break in with no option but to buy them once again.

I get the whole child safety thing, but I feel it's largely a copout for Nintendo to just go with the whole "mistaking clunky, roundabout methods as innovation" they've done in the past. Just make an online system like PSN or Steam.

The Wii U doesn't use the friend code system anymore. Downloads are tied to your Nintendo Network ID though, and that ID is currently tied to the system. Still, no friend codes.

Holy buckets. Have you ever heard of PC emulators? Not even being a smartass, I bought a few SNES/NES/N64 classics myself on the VC (though I was able to transfer them as I kept my Wii). But if you are going to go that balls to the walls, just grab an emulator and a good ROM-set.

Wow. That was a poor collection of games. What made you get a bunch of crappy NES and TurboGrafx games over genuine classics?

No Secret of Mana, no Chrono Trigger, no Final Fantasy III, none of the Donkey Kong Country trilogy.

But Mario Bros., Donkey Kong 3, J.J. & Jeff... I bet you hardly touched many of your games.

I have 106 games I paid for. The worse are Bonk 3 and Chronos Twins in my opinion.
