Will we ever have the feeling of playing Mario 64 for the first time again?

It happens to me with every new MGS game. And the newest one showing off the Fox Engine made me giddy.

This. Pretty much any new game in a big franchise I love. I was awed by SMG + SMG2.
Look a you.... sticking to the plan.

I remember the FF7 advertisement for playstation being on TV. I only saw it once as a kid, but after I saw it I had to get a playstation, because I had played the SNES games and was drawn in.

That was also one of the first video game advertisements i remember seeing

When Mario 64 came out I would get people to take me to blockbuster just so i could play it lol

It was only because of the jump from 2D to 3D.

If Retro develops the next Metroid, I expect I will experience that feeling again.

Although I do agree completely 100% with the TC, it wasn't just SM64 that was mind blowing, it was pretty much all 3D games at the time. I remember being floored by what the Sega Saturn and the PlayStation (1) could do. Seeing Daytona USA run on my TV for the first time was amazing, and it didn't stop there. Every different game was a new wonderful experience when 3D gaming was new. I remember loving Panzer Dragoon, D, Ridge Racer, Air Combat and so on just for the 3D graphics alone.

The N64 was no different and I think this feeling pretty much ran through that generation. From 1995 through 1998 I think games were very very exciting all around. It was a very fun time to be a gamer.

Super Mario 64.
Ocarina of Time.

These two games are still to this day the only games that give me that feeling.

Games that have come close? I love RTS...Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne was mind-blowing for me at the time, even though I think Starcraft is the better game overall.
