Will we ever have the feeling of playing Mario 64 for the first time again?

The last game to truly give me that feeling was Metroid Prime. Maybe, maybe, Metroid Prime 2 - though not to as great of an extent.

I already have had that feeling TC. Mario Galaxy games are 20xs better then Mario 64 could ever be.

LOL, epic fail.

Super Mario 64 makes both Galaxy games seem like trash.

Other way around buddy.

The Galaxy games are actually refined. And unlike M64, they aren't experiments and their controls work.
Also music and level design are way better.

This. While SM64 was and still is great, the SMG games haves improved upon it every conceivable way. There's a reason that they are the 2 highest rated games ever, even passing Ocarina of Time. They're the pinnacle of 3D platforming and will be for quite some time, possibly until Nintendo unveils their new 3D Mario title.

Yes, PS4/720 launch games will recapture that feeling.

PC already did that decades ago, and still does it daily.

Try again.

I had it with Metroid Prime but not again since.

And to TC's question: I've had quite a few games I've played since then that have given me that awesome feeling:
Super Mario Galaxy 1/2
Uncharted 2
Tomb Raider Underworld
DKCR
Mirror's Edge
COD4 and Black Ops 2
Tekken 3
Super Smash Bros. Melee
Pokemon Gold/Silver

Sad thing about getting old is nothing surprises you anymore.

Doesn't have to be the case, my friend! Almost thirty here, and life is still pretty surprising and amazing, and I know a lot is ahead of me still. It's all in attitudes and perspectives. :)

ICO made quite an impression on me. It was such a beautiful game. Haven't felt that way about a game since.
