Well, WiiU's not out in Europe or Japan (I think?) yet. So wait for that first...

What? That won't change anything.

Yeah, because only the sales of one continent matter.

Considering we're looking at one region's sales...yes, only one continent matters, and EU and Japanese sales won't affect North American figures.

*sigh*

How many units were available? 400K out of 450K available is a lot compared to 750K out of 1500K.

How many games are available? WiiU has 20 games ATM with several cross-platforms for older consoles. 360 had how many games during that period?

Why would WiiU outsell the 360 in EU if it didn't in the US?

lets do some simple math here:

looking at some black friday xbox deals there were 3 different price points:

199
149
249

if you add them and average them you get 199

199x750k = $149,250,000

the wii u comes in 2 price points

300
350

if you average them out you get 315

315x400k $126,000,000

so even at double the sales microsoft only made 23 million dollars more than nintendo.

not that impressive really. especially since if you add in wii/ds/3ds sales nintendo would have made more money.

Not to mention nintendo pushed more consoles than any other system.

Average of 300 and 350 is 325, not 315. So Nintendo actually made $130,000,000.

So now we're taking the estimates of someone who can't work out the average of 300 and 350 as fact now? It's not even the revenue that matters, it's the profit margins - and it is known that Nintendo is selling each Wii U alone at a loss.

X360 lost Microsoft about $2 billion dollars before it started generating profit, and it only broke even overall within the last two years. Wii U will not take that long to return investment.

So we should look at ZombiU and NSMBU?

If you want a serious answer, I suggest you should keep your eyes out for what EAD Tokyo and/or Retro Studios are cooking up.

US is by far the 360's strongest market. However, it would surprise me if Nintendo could supply enough systems to Europe to compete with established systems this holiday.

This is normal, the 360 was even outsold by the Gamecube and original Xbox on it's first holiday.

Other regions. I wonder how will this play out when the console launches in Japan and it's sells vs the 360 that week.

The west is Nintendo's weakest market.

I'm not going to tell you that the Wii U sales are phenomenal, they're sold out everywhere, they outsold these other systems in their first weeks, etc, but I would like to point out that the Wii U is sold out in some areas (mine for example) and, even though that doesn't represent the whole country, I'm sure that cut back on some sales.

More importantly, the 360 was deeply discounted in many places, like in my area. That's kinda the point of Black Friday, buy things much cheaper than you normally can. The Wii U is at normal prices, 360 $50+ off.

Again, I'm not trying to take anything away from MS or saying that the Wii U is the greatest system ever, just pointing out that we shouldn't really be surprised by Black Friday sales. Get back to me when we have numbers for a week where the 360 isn't on deep sale.

Didn't the DS only sell 250,000 units near its launch? And i don't see how THATS a failure.
