Can Nintendo add Wii upscaling in future update?

Wii games still look bad in HD. I had this problem when I had my Wii plugged to my hdtv via component cables.

Yes in the future a firmware patch could add up scaling. When the original PS3 launched with PS2 compatibility it lacked up scaling, they added up scaling in a later update.

No, sorry to the person above, but the system does absolutely no up scaling at the moment.

Actually it already does upscale to 1080p. It does not render Wii games at 1080p, which is what TC is implying.

Wii HD rendering could be added, but why do that when you can resell the HD versions for even more money? Sony has made a mint doing this and Microsoft did it with a few games as well.

They haven't been given the chance to abuse this one yet, but it will happen with Zelda, Mario and Metroid at the very least. I also expect Monolith to do a HD Xenoblade to hold everyone over until their next game is ready.

They may all be done as Limited Editions like the Metroid Prime Trilogy, but I do expect them to happen within the next 3 years.
