Since the release and success of Super Mario 3D Land on 3DS last year, any chance Nintendo might turn the next game into a full-fledged console game, ala NSMB Wii and U?

I hope not. That game was just awkward. Trying to mix 2d and 3d just didn't really work imo. I'd rather have something brand new anyway

I think I really would enjoy a big console 3D Mario game in the same realm as Super Mario 3D Land, but I really really want a new open world Mario title.

I don't see anything 2D about it.

Even Miyamoto himself said he wanted the game to feel like a 2D Mario in a 3D environment.

Super Mario 3D Land is what Super Mario 64 should have been. Sure, it wasn't as good as Galaxy 1 & 2, but it was sure as hell better than Sunshine and SM64
