I hope Skyward Sword was not canon, so that Zelda can go back to being superb.

Maybe instead of asking that we should ask "what's so much more enjoyable about swinging your arm around, especially for those of us old enough to work for a living after coming home from a 12 hour day?" Hell, I used to swing a hammer all day. If I hate the idea of flailing around for my video games after coming home from my desk job/gym now, I can only imagine how much I would have hated it back then.

But how else are they going to make the sword controls work? Explain how they would do it without motion controls, while still being able to slash from different angles.

lol, really? Okay, crazy concept but... you don't. If I were developing a game without motion controls, chances are that I'm not going to revolve the gameplay around motion controlled elements.

However, if you absolutely MUST have that in there because you're required to or something, then include Classic Controller support. Simply moving the right analog stick in the desired direction could swipe in that direction, spinning the stick would circle the sword, etc. Not that hard to come up with, and probably more accurate.

While SS has crap controls, that doesn't really have any bearing on it being canon or not. I had no problem with the story, and I quite liked the fact the characters were a bit more fleshed out. What impact does the controls have on that aspect, Axksion?

I'd strongly advise finding a flame shield. A big one.

I wonder why controls worked for some people and not for others.

I don't like SS that much at all and I'm one of its biggest critics, but the controls were sublime and they worked wonderfully for me.

Regardless whether a few very vocal people like motion or not, the controls were just fine.

No they weren't.

Also, the Wii U uses a tablet controller, and so will Zelda Wii U.

Skeward Sword is the worst 3D Zelda though, followed by MM.

Definitely troll, unless you just have awful tastes.

I really wish they'd do away with the motion controls.

Skyward Sword is the first Zelda game on an Nintendo console or handheld(I have to say that because of the CDi games lol) that I haven't beaten. That I quit playing. I honestly just hated it. I wish they'd give, you know. Choice. I mean they were able to do it with Twilight Princess. Normal controls on the GC, motion controls on the Wii. Just do that again. I have been a long time fan of the series, but I hate motion controls so they're basically blocking me off from the game I love.

I gave it a chance. I really did. I put maybe... ten, twelve hours into SS saying I'd get over it. Then optimism dropped, put a few more hours into it and just... quit.

I love you Nintendo. The Super Nintendo was my first console. A Link to the Past my first game. Give us a choice.

The SS controls worked pretty much perfectly. There's no way you can complain about them not working, unless you were to dumb to figure out how to calibrate and move a controller like a sword. The stabbing was a little annoying, but it worked.

Zelda was meant to play the way the makers said it was meant to play, not some random person in a chat room. I do look forward to the inevitable one on the WiiU however.

Did you link to the interviews of the people that played the game after he showed it on stage. Every single one of them said they worked just as should. I have the game, and nothing short of using the d-pad or (rarely) recalibrating.

you have to play some survival mode thing. i didn't like the game enough to do everything in it. in fact, it took at least a year and a half for me to finish the game because i lost interest like 4+ times and had to keep coming back after weeks off from not playing it.

No, I have it right here

http://www.zeldauniverse.net/zelda/skyward-sword-shield-guide/#sacred-shield

Sacred shield, resistant to both fire and electricity costs 500 rupees. Less durable but regenerates. Never had it break on me. Get after fighting that horrible shadow beast thing the first time.

He's def not going to respond to you since you proved him wrong. TC never bothered with sheilds, other than the wooden, or any weapon upgrades anyways, since you can upgrade the sacred shield all of the way to the goddess shield. It's pretty much unbreakable unless you really don't use the nunchuck at all. Even then, boss rush to get Hylian sheild is still easy.
