So, as I wrote in an earlier post, I was Playing NSMBU when it suddenly froze on me.
Since there is NO reset button or hard restart option (that I know of) I unplugged the console.

Now, the console will not turn on and I assume its because that update was running in the background...

bad luck/ negligence on nintendo's part

Im gonna have to call them in the morning. I just hope they can restore the system and not give me a new one, I don't want to lose my saved data.

DAMN IT!! I trusted you nintendo >_< you are supposed to be perfect!

anyway. this is frustrating... at least it happened fairly early and not after the warranty was over.

It was frozen for about a minute before I unplugged it.

I didn't know there was probably an update running though, what was I supposed to do?!

what's the protocol for a frozen game?

leave it frozen for say 20 mins before doing that. Unplugging should be full last resort.
Unplugging a system while its writing to the memory can cause bigger errors than a brick.
You could have corrupted the entire NAND.

lol

YOU DON'T UNPLUG IT!!

You can reset the console if it freezes...

You see the warnings like 3 times for the update and you blatantly ignore them lol

odds are you aren't getting your data back.

You should've had mommy or daddy do the updating.

If anyone is blatantly ignoring things, its you HykCraft

If you read my post you can see that I was completely unaware that there was potentially a system update running in the background. Hence, I received no warning or message.

It froze on me during Mario.

I hopped on to the internet afterwards and found out there was an update running.

@Kazekill Leaving it frozen seems counter intuitive but I appreciate the info.
I guess I learned my lesson.
