Can Nintendo ever deliver online like Halo or CoD?

CoD has those modes because they spent time and money to develop them and make sure they work, things like the epic Zombie Mode (really great in Black Ops 2).

NSMBU could easily have a ton of modes. First of all, battle mode is way better than the local multi. Couple of people wifi connected to coin battle over DS was a ton of fun.

Second of all, with online there could be a lot that is done. Just brain storming you could have basic features having one person as Mario and the other three take possession of various enemies in the map trying to kill him.

Or you could have a mode where two people are trying to kill him while one is trying to help by throwing power ups or creating temporary platforms. That could be hilariously funny and exciting.

Hows about a mode where everyone is trying to climb up and whoever is at the top dictates how far the screen rises and tries to kill everyone else by climbing faster and screwing with each other?

Nintendo could have done a crapload of fun things, they are just too lazy because Nintendrones are fine getting any game that has Mario in it.

A lot of those modes don't seem like they would work too well though, because remember you also need some sort of balance. Something like Coin Rush or hell a Speed Runners Mode would work well for the game as you are competing against others and it could use the Game Pad screen to show progression of others.

Things like a battle mode in where two versus two wouldn't work too well because of balancing issues. Would two people be Toads or normal enemies? What are the limitations on power ups or weapons? How would stages work would it be like Smash Bros Lite or are we talking partial stages or maps?

The climbing idea might work but I can see some issues that would need to be ironed out.

But even with those examples that's pretty damn small of a list. Excluding my ideas that like 4 modes. Also it could be that the developers just didn't think of any decent online ideas or maybe they didn't want online in NSMB U. That doesn't mean they aren't capable of giving a good game with great online.

The one that everyone who bashes it pretends to play. Please tell me of ONE shooter that is more robust.

Halo 4 is probably its closer competitor with spec ops weekly and challenges + forge mode.

Who else? If you gonna pretend to know what your talking about you should back it up.

Done with you. Your clearly just a silly die hard fanboy. Unbalanced? How the hell did Left 4 Dead do it? Its not about exact balance but about fun. Apparently Nintendo shouldn't give us ANYTHING because they are already perfect even though the co-op is a joke and completely made stupid by the A button but of course balance doesn't matter HERE.

No its not their specialty, which is giving you some cheap gimmick you don't really want instead of a proper console with good games.

Oh look its astral troll, here to attack Nintendo again because they hurt your fwends by causing their systems to brick. Wah wah wah!!! If you don't own a Wii U or any Nintendo system, how does anything you say hold any validity? Oh right, it doesn't. Back to the bridge with you!

Given that there is a massive difference between MK(lite) and GT5(simulator CPU/GPU heavy), MK easily had the superior online experience less karts jumping around(lag). Are you talking about features here or how smooth the online runs? Also 360's largest advantage with online is simply that they don't have as many players as PSN or Wii jumping in from around the world. I player from England will typically ping me(ps3WH) around 200(not to mention dropped packages) while an American pinged me around 100. Of course the quality of the users internet was very important if 1 player with a crap internet connection joined my server every one would experience severe lag this has given popularity to a technique known as "lag switching." I really don't see how you play Halo with out having this problem it is a form cheating that isn't particularly difficult to do far more common than "hackers." Where better hardware will help with this is that it can compensate for some of the connection issues you will still feel a difference if international players join especially if it is more than 1(or one with bad internet) but lets say among locals with average internet the Wii U should be able to produce a smooth online(nothing next gen).

Are we talking strictly first person shooters? And COD was a robust FPS once. Then they stopped expanding on it and that robust feeling became very meh very fast.

Left 4 Dead is an FPS and while it had it's shares of balance issue it made the issues work in favor of both sides in which teamwork is a key thing of surviving or killing the survivors. Not to mention the special infected had their own strengths and weaknesses.

NSMB U on the othe hand is a simplistic platformer that doesn't have much in terms of strategy for a battle mode. It wouldn't be able to pull off the Vs. mode thing too well as you would all have to be Mario/Luigi or Toads, you really couldn't be any of the enemies. And you don't have a lot of arsenal outside a shell, or projectiles like a fire/ice flower.

not a matter of being a fanboy it's more a matter of knowing that some games would have really lack luster online modes or have balancing issues if you say tried to add a Battle Mode for a 2D MArio game.

How about having whatever local mode they have now be online? No need to get too fancy.

True enough it could be done that way too but that would be kinda limiting don't you think?
