Nintendo’s president, Satoru Iwata, has praised Ubisoft and its Wii U launch game saying that he looks forward to ‘ZombiU becoming a seminal title’ for the fledgling console.

Speaking on Iwata’s personal site, Iwata Asks, the Nintendo president sat down with Ubisoft’s top designers and CEO Yves Guillemot to discuss ZombiU and the innovative ways it utilizes the Wii U’s GamePad.

“I get the feeling that ZombiU will become the focus of attention, not just in Europe, but around the world including Japan,” explains Iwata to Ubisoft.

“I look forward to ZombiU becoming a seminal title, complimenting Nintendo’s own efforts to showcase the reason why Wii U had to have the Wii U GamePad as its controller by demonstrating yet another way of doing things.”

ZombiU is one of the Wii U’s most distinctive launch games delivering a focus on bloody gore, difficult gameplay and an innoavative multiplayer mode.

Iwata also praised Ubisoft for succeeding with Nintendo’s consoles and establishing new franchises with the Wii Remote ‘more than any other company’.

“I think that Ubisoft have succeeded more than any other company at establishing a new franchise using the Wii Remote. Why do you think the company has managed to do so well there? I’d be very interested to hear your thoughts! (Laughs)”

Iwata also talked about ZombiU’s difficulty and the challenges Ubisoft faced when developing a game that needed to be both difficult and fair.

“The most fundamental aspect of video games is that compulsion every time you slip up to give it just one more go,” explained Iwata.

“Once it gets to the point where it seems utterly impossible, players begin to lose enthusiasm; if it’s done right though, players will want to keep retrying despite the difficulty.”

when 4 out of 5 reviewers give it praise then I think that's called "Critically Acclaimed"

It's what happens at the end of an adult video.

Ah, thanks.

I guess i'll buy it in spring when it's cheap and i have more time and money (Winter Holidays are always super busy and expensive...).
For now, Sonic Allstars Racing Transformed and Tank! Tank! Tank! had a higher priority.

I like Zombie games and ZombiU seems to do a lot of unique and interesting stuff (not only with the Pad, but also when it comes to it's structure and survival focus), but right now i really don't want to pay 60-70€ for something with a rather marginal local multiplayer component.
