Why do people think a Super Mario Sunshine 2 is possible?

If anything, Nintendo would just get lambasted for rehashing.
If it were still the GameCube's time, then sure, I'd go for it.

But it'd better have the same physics as the first one!!!

But still, I'd rather not let Nintendo beat the concept to death. I'd rather let the game mature more, like until 3-4 years from now. Super Mario Sunshine 2 shouldn't be released until the concept is REALLY missed.

Until then, let new ideas for Super Mario flow in.

The better question is why anyone would want one?

That game really wasn't spectacular, it's the worst of the 3D Mario games by far. It's still a great game, but it certainly didn't deserve a direct sequel.

If we're making a direct sequel to a 3D Mario game, let it be Super Mario 64. But frankly, I'd rather have a brand new Mario game.

I take it you like linear games that are so easy a kid with a helmet could play?

Why do people care about how linear a platformer is?

Galaxy was a good game, but I found myself tired of the linearity soon.

There is plenty more they could do with a Sunshine sequel.

Don't get me wrong, I loved Sunshine to death. But Nintendo can't really do any more with the concept. I have no idea how it can be added on to.
