Mine is the same, I'd rather wait though and enjoy opening it on xmas day, the wife let slip earlier that she's bought me a game for it for xmas. I bought the Wii U, could open it now but it's more fun to wait. Only 15 days now :)

You know what, you should wait until Christmas. What better feeling of excitement is it when you open a brand new console on an already exciting Christmas? Just be warned that there are going to be updates.

Ive had my Wii U for maybe 7 days now and at first I was contemplating wrapping it up and opening it for christmas. I got my NES, SNES, PS1, PS2, Xbox, DS and GC for christmas. So there is a precedent and a nostalgia associated with systems.
But I have no willpower. I did go one full day without opening it though.

Lol. I recently ordered Resident Evil: Revelations and Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy as presents for myself. They'll be delivered to my mom's house and put beneath the Christmas tree, packed... so I can unpack them. I'm a bit excited, but I can wait. It's my own, personal reward for certain things and holding up to my promise of not buying new games till 2013 (okay, so I technically bought them now and I will unpack them roughly a week before the year ends, but this is the most appropriate time for it).
