In Japan, a Twitter user uploaded this pic of a busted GamePad, writing that it fell less than a foot, off the sofa and onto the floor. This wasn't even 24 hours after getting the Wii U, which was released in Japan this weekend.

Looks more like it was stepped on. The sticks will keep the screen from smashing on the floor. <_<

How the hell does a screen, landing on a FLAT floor, get a crack like that?

INB4 Someone posts the Youtube video of the guy dropping the controller, guess he failed to point out the obvious issue with the screen with the lines running across the screen

Yeah, um, screens don't break from falling less than one foot off the couch, ESPECIALLY in that way. How the hell can the screen break from the bottom right corner from DROPPING? Period? It'll either break entirely or not at all.

Kotaku is just bulls***ing, as usual.

Impact, it sends the energy across the system and apparently the screen was nearby before the impact deluded itself across the system

When you hit something, the energy from the impact is channeled across until it's depleted.

Guess you never been in a car wreck, impact from the rear but a dent appeared on the roof of the car

Gamepad is shown to survive a four foot drop onto concrete, takes no damage.

Gamepad falls one foot onto the floor, ends up with a smashed screen? Seems legit.
