Wii U is now the last surviving console. MS and Sony are finished.

Oh word. Can't argue with that.

How are they squeezing that much power out of those Jaguar cores? Must be some crazy good engineers at M$.

he did reiterate that they're working on their next-generation engine—which he said will work with next-generation consoles as well.

I can't wait to try this engine on the Wii-U! Sorry PS3 and 360 owners!

Newell said, they'd compete with next-gen consoles from companies like Microsoft and Sony.

I personally think these streamlined PCs will remain niche, but we shall see.

I don't play any of the game series that you just mentioned. THEY should be finished. :)

That sucks man, some of the best games in existence. If you can't get into Mario, Zelda, Metroid, or Pikmin, I'm not sure how you enjoy anything...

Mario - Platformer
Zelda - Action/Adventure
Metroid - FPS and Sidescrolling shooter
Pikmin - RTS and Adventure

Try out some more Nintendo titles, as a gamer, it's impossible not to enjoy their offerings.

I've played games from all of those series at some point over the past, except Pikmin, what, 30 years? I grew tired of them. I can't say that I would never play them again but I never look forward to their releases.

I honestly don't see those systems doing that well at all unless there is more to the console than what I've read. Right now it's starting to sound like

http://www.maximumpc.com/article/columns/evo_the_unholy_hybrid_opensource_computing_and_consoles

and the new version of it

http://www.thunderboltgames.com/features/article/under-the-radar-envizions-evo-2-dx-handson-review-for-all-none.html

Starting at an amazing price of $579

which includes the following LOL worthy specs

350GB Internal Hard Drive
2 GB DDR2 RAM
Super Drive/Blu-ray drive (depending on bundle)
Integrated ATI Radeon HD 4200 (DirectX 10.1)
VGA / DVI-D / HDMI 1.3 outputs
Integrated ALC662 6-CH HD Audio
Gigabit Ethernet

AMD = finished, have you not heard and Microsoft decided to go with Intel

Edit: Basing this off of one of the many, many rumors of the console and this one looks like the best one to go with so I'm going to call it as fact

So Intel is introducing a new Atom CPU and calling it "i7"? Won't that confuse their customers?

Source? All of the recent rumors point to Microsoft using a 6-8 core AMD processor with a AMD GPU.

Rumors also point to Sony using a AMD A10 APU with a AMD GPU.

And of course the Wii U uses a AMD GPU as well.
