Wii U is moving 1.2 games per system sold, according to Longbow Research analyst James Hardiman, down from two games sold per console when Wii was first introduced in 2006. Hardiman gleaned his figures from the latest NPD report, via GI International, and believes the lower than expects units numbers derive from one of two things: the inclusion of NintendoLand with the Wii U Deluxe version; or the console price left consumers’ wallets a bit too empty to purchase more than one title

That figure doesn't take into consideration digital sales which are likely a high % of games being bought on the system.

Stop living in the stone age. There are tons of consumers (particularly among rich early adopters) who can afford to get games this way. They aren't pansies who are afraid of the DRM boogieman.

Your post may very well qualify as the dumbest thing ever typed and posted on GameFAQs. Xbox Live Arcade has the lionsshare of console digital distribution and even traditional games sold via that marketplace don't make up a significant margin. You have a point that digital sales may not be taken into account, but I doubt a significant number of people are utilizing the eShop. With the abysmal flash storage for the Wii, you'd fit at most, three standard games (most moern games exceed 10GBs of space)

I own four. This number means nothing. It's just an average.

As compared to what? What do other consoles usually sell on launch?

Typical troll thread. How many games are expected to be bought at purchase? The deluxe model comes with a game so one additional one is purchased. Two games to start.

I guess since PS3/Xbox 360 users bought 4-5 games at purchase...oh wait, no they didn't.
