Can use 2 gamepads with 1 Wii U if I buy another?

I'd like to have 2 gamepads (one for upstairs and one for downstairs). I guess if I bought a 2nd Wii U I could pair both gamepads with one console?

it should be possible, yes.

I enjoyed RE6, and both FF13 games. I think Skyward Sword is the second best Zelda after Majora's Mask. I have no desire to play Skyrim. I actually like COD.

The Wii U works with two gamepads, yes. But be aware that there are no games that currently use two gamepads.

It's possible, but so far no games actually have support for dual gamepads.

I'm liking the idea of 6 player games with only 4 player split screen on the TV.

Just because Nintendo said it can be done doesn't mean the system currently supports it. If they aren't selling gamepads because no game supports it, I would be the system doesn't support it either. When a game that uses 2 gamepads comes out, there will be a system update to allow 2 gamepads.

Although, someone that has friends with a gamepad could try this and see what happens.

I can't imagine that the system wouldn't allow it at all right now. If someone bought a Wii U at launch and didn't have an internet connection, then any games in the future that use two gamepads wouldn't actually be able to use the feature.

The update would be on the disc for a game that supports it.

Does anyone have a friend with a wii u and could try pairing two gamepads? I am kind of interested now.
