Microsoft stated that the Xbox 360's failure rate was within the consumer electronics industry's typical 3% to 5%

LOL, stop droning and think for a second

"Product just released, already in a class action law suit over faulty controller making a rattling noise"

Would you buy the product until the issue is resolved? Nope, I hope not. Smart consumers would not

Has anyone asked Nintendo or opened up their controller to see what the rattle actually is?

''many articles have appeared in the media portraying the Xbox 360's failure rates,[2][3][4] with the latest estimate by warranty provider SquareTrade to be 23.7% nearly three years ago,[5] and currently the highest estimate being 54.2% by a Game Informer survey''

Maybe you should read more than 2 lines because that was a statement from Microsoft at launch.

"On February 8, 2008, during the Game Developers Conference 2008, Microsoft announced that the "Failure rate has officially dropped", but without mentioning any specifics.[28] The same month, electronics warranty provider SquareTrade published an examination of 1040 Xbox 360's and said that they suffered from a failure rate of 16.4% (one in six)."

I guess the "Failure rate" somehow "dropped" from 3% all the way up to 16.4% right?
