Because there are none. The releases are barren until at least march

They are always like this. Maybe they think that games hype themselves or something like that if they are released relatively close to the release.

It also removes the problem for delays, if the game is already completed or very close when it's announced, there probably will not be any kind of delays. Announcing a game early might do that.

But what do I know.

They may be afraid of ideas being stolen? I personally think they are taking the apple approach. If you hype something up for a year and it blows, people are less likely to trust you in the future. But if you don't hype, announce something, and release it immediately you get many more impulse buys and if people don't like it they haven't been hyped up and will be less upset.

Hype is a bad thing, I never like games as much when I've been waiting a year+ for them. Your expectations get out of control.

Think of it like this... When was Duke Nukem Forever announced? When did it finally launch? Was it worth it? There are multiple titles that fall into this same scenario, but most are not as extreme as DNF.

Bottom line is, the games are coming, we just need to realize that, while some may not agree, this IS new hardware, and it takes time to learn the tricks and tweak things to get the best out of the console.

Nintendo has always been like this....they don't say anything and then there are game droughts for long periods of time.

I have plenty of old EGM issues from the N64/GC days where editors try to reach out to Nintendo only to hear "no comment" and readers asking why there's not as much coverage on upcoming games as Sony/MS.

Remember the 3DS launch where games were announced a couple of years before arrival and some got annoyed?...

I expect the announcements to start coming in after the holidays. Public attention needed to remain on the launch titles until everybody had done their holiday shopping.
