Honestly software droughts are very rare these days, except on Nintendo consoles...

Except for ALL launch consoles and during the Summer months.

Summer doesn't have bad droughts anymore, except on Nintendo consoles :/

I think the whole "it's new so don't expect any games" argument is pretty weak. This is 2012, we've seen plenty of console launch already with no good games. So companies should be learning from the past, not just accepting it as the norm. I bought a Wii U on launch day but ended up selling it a couple weeks later because it's just unacceptable to not have anything to play. I feel like they released an unfinished system. Were they rushed for the holidays? Maybe. But this is Nintendo, they've been doing this a long time.

As Treebeard would say "A Wizard should know better!"

Even though it's 2012 the industry won't change as it takes years to develop games. Hence why there tend to be droughts. Also explains small launch titles and ports in the first month. People really need to know that most launches are small and sometimes a console goes through droughts. It;s not the end of the world.

You mean, except on newly launched consoles.

Didnt happen with the PS3, Xbox 360, Vita, 3DS, Xbox, Dreamcast, etc....

May-August (generally regarded as "summer" had plenty of releases this year...

Same thing for 2011...

Even 2010 wasn't as bad as the years before

And how many of those were good titles by any chance? A lot of the better games still don't come out until after Summer ends. And with something new like the Wii U it;ss STILL take a while before games come out. Stop trying to downplay droughts as only happening to Nintendo systems. They have all suffered droughts,

There were a lot of good games released the past three summers. Again, I'm sorry but the "droughts" really aren't prevalent other than on the Wii this gen.

Again droughts happened for all three at some point or another, and for the topic we are talking about a launch console and those always have droughts in their first year or so on the market.

To be fair, good or bad games is subjective

LOL, good pic. I understand where TC is coming from--to be honest, it's the reason I haven't committed to a WiiU yet (bring me some FE or Mario Kart first)--but this isn't exactly an original topic.

And Icecreambutthurt must have a drought on whatever system he idolizes to babysit old topics like this all the time.
