How can you possibly get angry about a bricked console....

This is not really a wise thread IMHO. Bricking on power down does not happen on almost any modern platform even though they all advise against it. There are a host of designs that prevent that from happening.

How is this relevant?
Of course most consoles have problems at launch.
That's not the question...why get angry for no reason?

Some people are perpetually in a state of anger. It's a sad existence.

A smartly designed console should be impossible to brick under any circumstances when downloading an update. If a console can brick because it is turned off or the power is lost while updating, then that is not smart design.

Pretty much this. And in case it does happen, there should be a fail safe, like restoring to factory settings. Or hell, they could include a restore disc or include a small program that can allow you to connect to the web wireless and perform a system restore (so you can get the proper files).

The Wii U only bricks when powered off. Why the hell would you want to power it off during the update, even if it were taking a long time to accomplish said update? You're expecting to play it after you update, so powering it off wouldn't be logical. Would you power off a ps3 or xbox during an update or game installation? Not if you had the sense of precaution to tell you that you just might not want to turn it off, just in case it breaks if you turn it off. Same applies here. It's not that hard.
