460k for Wii U?

Wii U has now sold nearly 890,000 units in the United States after only 41 days on the market, according to the NPD Group.

Just in America...

also from gaf

Wii U has generated 3% more dollar sales than the Wii when looking at Dec vs Dec, but it is 11% for YTD.

I'm more interested in which games people are actually buying on the Wii U, obviously Mario, but what else is selling?

Holy crap 460k is horrible. That's worse than the PS3's first December when it was supply constrained and $599. Wii U is in serious trouble.

Wrong. Wii U sold over 200k more than PS3 first December.

You probably missed the part where the 460K was in the U.S. only.

Not bad. Since they're making a profit, it's definitely good enough.

And you missed the part where it did worse in all of December than it did in 10 days in November. And you missed the part where it isn't supply constrained. Analysts were saying the Wii U was underperforming when they guessed it would do 750,000 in December. 460k is an utter disaster. The PS3 did better at launch. This is pathetic, but Nintendo deserves it for such weak hardware, high price, and terrible selection of games.

No, because the console launched 12 days before December, so most people that wanted one, got it on those days, it would be near a million if the console launched in December....
