Nintendo needs to bring back the Startropics series

those games were amazing, and were like probably in my top 10 NES games if i were to make a list, so nintendo should totes bring them back
they have the startropics games on the VC in the Wii Shop, i mean they brought Kid Icarus back from the grave on 3DS and it was absolutely awesome. so they should give that same treatment to Startropics.

and as something completely weird is, neither startropics game has ever been released in Japan, and the second was only originally released in the NA region no where else.

Only if you get to dunk the manual in water for a secret code.

I agree! Star Tropics is my all-time favorite NES game...I'd love to see it return, or even get some representation in Smash Bros (even an assist trophy would be fine). I don't like the second one as much as the first, but still want to see them return!

Also the reason Startropics was never released in Japan is because it was explicitly designed to appeal to Americans. Hence the yo-yo weapon, the characters, and the overall theme of the game.

funny story about that phange, is that in the virtual console manual of the first game, they have the letter right, and you have to dip it in water virtually

now thats incredibly awesome for nintendo to do that

I heard about that. Major kudos for them to do that specifically for Startropics. Not quite as hilariously meta as actually putting the letter in real water, but then again you can't expect that from a digital title.

The only games i can think of that had secrets in their packaging are Startropics, Metal Gear Solid, and Swordquest for the Atari 2600.

Wonder if there's anything else?

What was MGS's hidden secret? Only thing I remember having to physically do was plug the controller in slot 2 lol.

You had to get the codec frequency to save off the back of the packaging for the game

If the manual is on a disc/cartridge, do you dunk the disc/cartridge in water?
