Perhaps it's a good thing we don't have a level editor for 2D Mario games ...

Like seriously it's one of the reasons why it's best not to have one.

Also it encourages you to buy more 2D Mario games because you get more levels that way.

There may not be an official one... but there are some good custom NSMBW levels. Though, honestly most of the rest suck.

If 2D Mario games had a level editor people would just use it to make 2D Mario Kart games. Or be like LBP where for every half decent level you have 20,000 crappy ones.

NSMBW got a few good userlevels.

Once the novelty of user created levels wears off, it's not such a big deal if it's excluded in the next game in the series. Frankly for every good level there is far too much crap.

OH NO! Some one could make a hard level!.... User generated content is always a bonus there really is no argument against it.
