Is Mario 64 worth playing now?

I never had an N64 as a kid, I went from SNES to GC, so I've never played through Mario 64 before. Of course I've played it at other people's houses before, but I only ever made it a few levels in. So since there's no nostalgia at all, is it worth playing now?

It still is the best 3D/2D Mario platforming game ever made, so the answer is a definite strong YES, DAMMIT!

If you can find it the DS version is better, I enjoyed the game and I had no nostalgia attached to it.

couldn't disagree more with the first part, but yes. Mario 64 is ALWAYS worth playing.

I enjoyed RE6, and both FF13 games. I think Skyward Sword is the second best Zelda after Majora's Mask. I have no desire to play Skyrim. I actually like COD.

The original one is so much better and the ds version doesn't really do it justice even if the graphics are a bit better. The N64 graphics make the game what it is awsome.

The nostalgia in this one.

I don't know how having more playable characters, more levels, and enhanced graphics doesn't make SM64DS better than the original. Hell, play it on the 3DS and its better by tenfold.

What makes the DS version better? The biggest reason why I'm interested in playing the game is because the game is so iconic, so I feel like Mario games after Mario 64 may sometimes make small references to Mario 64 and I'm not catching them because I haven't played it. Also, the Banjo games are on my list of games to play!
