Is Mario 64 worth playing now?

A lot of N64 games haven't aged all that well. Mario 64 is not one of them. I played it for a little while a few nights ago and it is just as fun as it was back in '96.

The nostalgia in this one.

I don't know how having more playable characters, more levels, and enhanced graphics doesn't make SM64DS better than the original. Hell, play it on the 3DS and its better by tenfold.

>enhanced graphics

Please stop trolling.

Metroid Zero Mission and Super Metroid are some of the finest 2D games ever made and are the best in the series.
Metroid Fusion is pretty cool I guess.

Mario 64 aged pretty badly. You're better off playing Galaxy.

Its my favorite game of all time, so YES!

But I didn't enjoy the DS version as much, the controls were too clunky.

Go on the Wii U board and find a topic where the word fanboy isn't used. Its impossible.

No. It's a crude 5th Generation prototype with some rough ideas about what platforming games could be in 3D. The controls are bad, the graphics are bad, the camera is HORRIBLE.

Sunshine is better than 64, but still not particularly great. Both Galaxy games finally nailed the formula. If you've played Sunshine and Galaxy 1+2, there is no reason to ever bother with 64, unless you hate yourself.

you ask this as if there are good games still being made today that make SM64, the pioneer of 3D platforming, obsolete

there are no such games being made today, especially not by Nintendo, now a hollow shell of its former self, its former self that made revolutionary games like SM64

so yes, SM64 IS worth playing now

The original one is so much better and the ds version doesn't really do it justice even if the graphics are a bit better. The N64 graphics make the game what it is awsome.

DS has a D-pad. N64 has a stick.

The end.
