With all the rumors of Nintendo buying exclusives... They could buy something with enough shock factor to steal a good bit of attention...

"We bought Activision"

That would do it.

That would never happen but wow could you imagine the butthurt especially from the 360 crowd?

It would derail any hype for the 720 and a good chunk of the PS4 hype.

Activision Blizzard is for sale for 8 billion. Nintendo has the cash to buy Vivendi out... That would give them majority control of 61%.

http://mobile.bloomberg.com/news/2012-06-29/vivendi-said-to-plan-sale-of-stake-in-activision-blizzard.html

It would drain 3/4 of their reserves but they could do it...

Smash Bros and Pokemon are really their only series big enough to do any show stealing.

A list of 1st party franchises are the best bet. It's that simple.

The funny thing is Nintendo a lot of video game analysis always want Nintendo to have the next big franchise.

But yet a lot of complaints about Nintendo events is where's Zelda, Star Fox, F zero etc.

It's not because Nintendo can't think of new ideas but rather implement new mechanics and gameplay into existing franchises that use the ideas well.

Example: Gravity in Mario Galaxy

.It effective because it innovates and brings change in series

. If every new idea had new IP that wasn't to different from X series formula, it will make Nintendo franchises less unique.

But it takes more then First party for a console but thrid party as well.

Nintendo definitely needs a big sizzle reel, but Press Conference should really focus on games that are unique:

Meaning the line up must consist of:

. Nintendo games
. exclusives
. Thrid party games with the best version on Wii U.

So for specifics I expect at E3 2013 (being realistic and general so I don't over hype myself like last year.)

Wii U:

- The next Big Mario game. (the main selling point for Wii U)
- Bayonetta 2
- Any announcement like Bayonetta 2 where Nintendo is funding 3rd party ideas
- some third party games that are little late but will get exclusive content.
- sizzle reel of third party games
- Yoshi Island
- Retro game (If not working on Yoshi)
- a third party game showcasing the Wii U (past year examples: Epic Mickey, ZombiU)
- moderate announcements that don't get massive coverage (Mario sports game as an example)
- some eshop games will be nice
- One or Two surprises (could include Retro in this).

3DS:

- Zelda 3DS ( selling point for 3DS)
- Redesign
- Pokemon X and Y maybe.. ( Pokemon never seemed to have a big presence in E3 before)
- Can't really guess what else I'm kinda blank on the 3DS aspect. Considering all the announced 1st party already like: Luigi Mansion, Fire Emblem , Pokemon, Brian age, Animal Crossing.

The gravity wasn't a new concept, Sonic Adventure 2 had it.

I'd rather they buy Sega.
