When was the last time a new console was readily avaliable?

I honestly can't remember. The 360 sold out everywhere for months along with the ps3 and wii. Now in 2012 we have a new console which most people don't know even exist sitting in stacks. I don't think this will happen with the next xbox and playstation as they will have more hype then the wii u had

Or, you know, Nintendo's keeping up with demand? But that can't be it.

Not sure if trolling or just stupid.

Nintendo made the announcement before launch that they didn't want a repeat with the Wii being sold out everywhere, so they put WiiU production into overdrive to keep the store shelves stocked. That way anyone that wanted a WiiU could get one without hassle.

2.5million units sold in less than two months equals no demand ITT.

Probably the same time the consoles manufacturer didn't have production problems causing shortages.

Even after that issue was settle (for the PS3 at least) it was available soon after launch "sitting around"

That's funny, because when the 360 had just launched, I literally had ZERO problem putting one on layaway back with Dirty Whore Town (as I call Wal-Mart) used to have year round layaway. One of the few good things they ever did. But yeah, the whole 360 = rarity at launch deal is BS.
