What Metroid game would you like to see on the Wii U?

All styles of which will utilize full 1080p graphics...

1) Predominantly a first person shooter, similar to the Prime trilogy...

2) A return to 2-D, third person side scrolling adventure styled game.

3) A third person action/adventure in 3-D.

Prime, with proper 2d gameplay on the GamePad in the 3d environment(one plane). Would make for some better platforming.

I'd like a gorgeous 2.5D side scroller on the TV, but a first-person view on the gamepad.

That would be really cool.

It's about time we get another 2D game. I'm still hoping for a remake of Metroid 2 in Zero Mission style.

I'd like a new 2-D metroid AND a new 3-D metroid.

But I still haven't played Metroid Prime 2, so maybe I should just play that.

I would be willing for any metroid style at all, as long as we don't end up with railroaded gameplay and ptsd-samus a la Other M.

This is really tough for me to answer. I think Metroid Prime 1 is one of the best games ever made IMO. But I feel like if they made another one it just wouldnt be all that exciting.

Same if they just introduced another 2D Super Metroid game. It would feel like a been there done that experience.

They tried to do something new with Other M but it didnt work for me at all, but they do have to figure out something new to do I think for this to feel fresh.

I think something that would be interesting, and maybe even impossible, is if I could play in 3D space on my TV, and 2D on the gamepad. Dont ask me how that would work, I dont get paid to figure this stuff out. Just an idea.

BTW my big issue with a 2D Metroid right now is they are too short. Prime was a pretty long game, of course partly due to back tracking and artifact collecting, but the 2D games can be finished in a few hours. They seem more fitting for the 3DS to me, with something massive for the U, and Im just not sure a normal 2D Metroid game is enough after its been so long since weve received a really good Metroid game.

I actually think the other way around, as mentioned by an earlier poster, would be interesting. A 2(.5)D metroid game on the TV, with a first person 3D display on the pad.
