Here's a game I'm working on that I hope to release on the Wii U. AMA.

Been working on a game for a while, probably since October. I'm in high school, so its taken quite a bit of time to get practice with the programs I'm using -- Blender, Photoshop, Unity. The idea originally started off as a webcomic, but, well, its not my dream to be a comic book writer, I want to be a game designer. I think the Wii U is perfect for independent games. Hardly any piracy, not a lot of games, and I heard releasing independent games is fairly easy for the Wii U.

A little about the game: Chiaroscuro takes place in a universe where exported and public domain characters of many horror film characters coexist -- think League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. The game is an adventure game, with little action, mainly focusing on environmental puzzles, and has some elements from the stealth and survival horror genres.

Well, on to pictures. Here's what it looked like when it started off as a webcomic:

I only made one panel, lol. It was mostly to show off the art style. This is the Grim Reaper, based on its appearance from The Seventh Seal.

The art style has rapidly changed. Here's what the models looked like a while ago:

Here's what the models look now:

I achieved this by drawing half a head and modeling it with a mirror modifier on. I then mirrored the image in photoshop and used it as a texture.

Here's some screenshots from areas. They're unfinished, but its a good way of showing off what the game looks like:

Some more concept art. These pics were rushed and I went a bit overboard because I was bored in class.

Ask me anything about this game, development, and video games in general. Or whatever. I don't care.

It looks like you're really putting some effort into this game. I like the concept of horror characters coexisting. Keep up the good work.

Lol, good luck putting a game on the Wii U as a high school student with nothing but untextured Blender scenes.

I aspire to be a indie dev as well.

I will likely take some sort of class on programming soon.

I have quite a few ideas including a open world game, and a survival horror trilogy.

I wish you luck. If you succeed in getting this on Wii U would you mind telling me as much as your allowed about the process? if I ever made

So it's trolling to tell this kid he has no idea what making an entire game entails, and needs to actually learn something before trying such a thing? I mean, does TC really think he can do what giant TEAMS of people do over multiple years?

In fact, it's a bit insulting to think of it. People involved in game development work their asses off to gain degrees and knowledge allowing them to work on games, and this kid thinks using Blender makes him a game dev. TC do you even code? And how about you pikachu... oh wait nevermind.

An idea guy... let me LOL even harder.

You are what game developers hate, just forget gaming and go back to school, kid.

Have you ever actually met a game developer? Just curious.

I've actually just started getting in to the game dev scene, mostly just contract work making people ideas come to life. Only iOS though, nothing major.

I can not stress how much this pains me to say this- 3D_Shado is right. Ideas aren't really worth too much. You start out with lofty goals but you need to cut things here and there during development due to financial and time limitations, as well development environment limitations.

Having worked on the process from conception to publishing, I can assure you it is not easy, at times tedious, and there's never enough time. Although this may change if you are doing it for a hobby as opposed tona living. Either way, it all becomes worth it when your game starts to sell.
