Why would you focus just on the Gamepad's screen resolution? Look at the whole package. Better graphics, better specs, new system. It's the Wii's successor, simple as that.

If Sony and Microsoft still refuse to release their next generation systems, Wii U will be forced to be part of the current generation cause its not capable of leading or starting a new generation from PS3 and 360.


This so hard. I can't stand when people hide behind the 'it was just released' crap. Sure, technically, but this is a conversation and we are human beings.

Well, the 360 was released a year before ps3 and Wii (if I remember correctly). Dies that mean it wasn't in the same generation?

No, what begins a generation is the video game company making a new consol, handheld or home, the new one would be considered the next gen of that company's handhelds/home consoles. Therefore, the Wii U is the next generation of Nintendo consoles, regardless of whether or not MS and Sony have released theirs.

graphics have nothing to do with next gen. hell snes was only twice as powerful as nes yet it was considered next gen. wii u is at least twice the power of a 360 so why is two times not enough NOW,but it was before?

may i remind you when snes came out there was the jaguar that was slightly less power then a n64 yet snes wasn't excluded as next gen..

Resolution-wise, three PSP screens will fit into one Wii U GamePad screen.
