It was released after the previous generation. Simple as that.

It doesn't work that way.

Yes it does

I hate the Wii, and the Wii U, however as Chaos Creature said

"No, what begins a generation is the video game company making a new consol, handheld or home, the new one would be considered the next gen of that company's handhelds/home consoles. Therefore, the Wii U is the next generation of Nintendo consoles, regardless of whether or not MS and Sony have released theirs."

In regards to the original statement about the psp display vs the game pad display; It is accurate. Resolution is only one of many factors in the quality of the image/images being displayed and is one of the least important aspects when dealing with smaller screens such as the ones being compared. Things such as refresh rate, and most impotantly DPI play a much bigger role.

All this being said this can't even be taken as an insult as you can fit almost 4 psp screens into the gamepad screen, meaning it takes almost four times the processing power to produce an image on par with the psp, meaning you are inadvertently arguing for the Wii U's capabilities rather than against them. As for this being used to argue whether or not something can be considered next gen or not, well see the quote at the top.

Last but not least so I don't feel dirty for entirely defending the travesty that is the Wii U...

"wii u is at least twice the power of a 360 so why is two times not enough NOW,but it was before?"

Dude are you serious? Are fanboys really this stupid? (Rhetorical Question we all know the answer.)? On paper the Wii U bare tops the PS3 and Xbox 360, in execution most developers have found that this doesn't translate to real world application and have found it far less capable than the afore mentioned systems. Whether or not this can be overcome using the various tweaks that come with familiarity of development or whether it is due to an overly bloated, unoptimized OS, remains to be seen ( That's a lie it's the overly bloated OS, which granted can be fixed with patches etc in the future). Trying to say it's double either of it's current competitor just shows a huge lack of knowledge on the subject.

Its a next gen console with last gen hardware. The concept is quite similar to original wii. This is how Nintendo operate, deal with it.

You may laugh and scratch, but it is accepted as fact.

If Sony and Microsoft still refuse to release their next generation systems, Wii U will be forced to be part of the current generation cause its not capable of leading or starting a new generation from PS3 and 360.

So just because Sony and MS didn't release a console yet doesn't make it next gen for the Wii U? This logic.

By the same logic TC posted, the PS360 should still be a gen behind Wii U because they don't have screens at all, and thus, no resolution. Going further, they're at a lower generation than the gameboy.
