Has anybody noticed an increase in their electricity bill...

...since buying a Wii U?

The Wii U controller has terrible battery life and I've seen a lot of people brush this off as "whatever, I'll just leave it on charge all the time".

So has anyone noticed an increase in their electricity bill since they started doing this or is it kewl?

No. I have not. And I thought once the game pad is full it stops charging.

Do you guys use it a lot? Eurogamer called it "the greenest console" and I highly doubt charging the pad drains that much.

I have definitely noticed an increase! But I figure that might have something to do with the transition from autumn to winter.

I had Wii U for a week before it got the BLoD and I returned it. I looked back on my monthly power bill, and there is a massive spike corresponding to that week. I'm pretty sure there is a massive power issue with the defective Wii Us which basically drove my bill up 20% from the month before. I guess I'm "lucky" it broke as early as it did, otherwise I might not even have enough to pay the bill!

You could play it all day and night and it have the controller constantly plugged in with button mashing games and it would never cost more than a few cents a day.

This consoles has an incredibly low need for power supply. It is super efficient.

Don't get paranoid about it. Any differences in your bill are much more likely to be attributable to it being a colder month than last month making your furnace work harder.
