Even if Sony took a top of the line current GPU it still would only be 20% faster than the Wii U's GPU...... These mind blowing graphics, don't look like they are going to happen this generation at all. Looks like Nintendo will probably win this generation.

A modern mid-ranged GPU would probably be somewhere in the area of 5 times as fas as the Wii U's. A high-end GPU, especially from an upcoming generation, could easily be over 10 times as powerful in raw performance. The Wii U's GPU performance seems somewhere around the level of an AMD 4670, possibly slightly higher or lower depending on what it's running.

PS3:3.2ghz
PS4:1.6ghz

the 1.6 is faster than the 3.2ghz xx

Really, did that change? I remember morons posting that the Wii U was weaker due to that magical ghz number.

Even with those specs, the gulf between gen 6 and 7 (in terms of visuals) will be much bigger than 7 and 8.

Diminishing returns are a beyotch.

This. Hoping for gameplay innovation myself.

That's pretty much all they can do to make 8th gen worth the money. Graphics will have a hardly noticeable difference so all that is really left is to use the power to impose better mechanics such as smarter AI or more happening on screen at once. Have games like Skyrim but with much livelier towns or larger frag fests on games like CoD.

Unfortunately with all the rumors it appears they will focus on gimmick controllers and the Kinect more than actual gameplay differences *sigh*

These specs don't make a lot of business sense to me. An 8-core CPU doesn't sound cost-effective at a time when developers still have fully taken advantage of quad cores. Even if they tinker, the benefits of more cores and threads have diminishing returns.

And the memory spec for the Durango just sounds ridiculous. If history is any indicator then the newer consoles will have as much memory as they need to properly take advantage of the other specs. 8 gigs cost money.

I fully expect the Durango and Orbis to be more powerful than the Wii U, but they probably won't be the huge leap from their predecessors that everyone seems to want. The Xbox 360 and PS3 both had disastrous launches with huge financial losses and the expense of manufacturing the consoles played a role in both cases.

Actually, the memory specs sound fairly reasonable for the Durango. 8 Gigs really doesn't cost much more than 4 ($50 vs. $30, and that's assuming you skip on the cheaper sticks). As for the Orbis...well...that's a bit less realistic. I mean, 4 GB DDR3 is perfectly believable. but GDDR5?

Actually, although I don't want to defend darkjedilink, he is kind-of right

No. He's wrong and he's lying.

although they never said it wouldn't outperform the Xbox 360

That's exactly what he is lying and claiming they said. Actually, he's gone further with his lies, claiming that they said it couldn't even play Xbox 360 games. There's nothing remotely like that in what you've quoted (and he knew that as well).
