I don't want to see the system fail, but unless Nintendo seriously doesnt start pushing out heavy hitters, the system will fail. Good job in proving his point about the denial from fanboys. What is your point anyway? Does the Vita being a failure somehow make the Wii U a success ?

They may mock someone for bringing Vita up as reassurance, but when do they actually deny it is doing terribly? --- Pour grammer annoy's me
You people are setting your standards for sales way too high. WAY too high. --- Still waiting for Diddy Kong Racing 2
Lack of games. The only games I've played for Wii in the past 5 years were Nintendo exclusives - Skyward Sword, SMG2, Metroid Prime 3, Brawl... can't remember what else, if anything. Nintendo simply makes the best titles for its systems, and as of right now there is no reason to get a Wii U. Absolutely loved Pikmin 1 and 2 but i don't know if Pikmin 3 justifies a new console. I waited in line for over 12 hours to get a Wii on launch just for Twilight Princes. There is not a must-have title for Wii U, and there aren't any on the horizon. The new smash is probably years off, and considering Skyward Sword just came out I'm not expecting Zelda anytime soon. Gamecube launched with Melee, a game lots of people still play religiously. N64 had Mario 64. With even ONE kickass, must-have title, I would be on-board. There's nothing that makes you go "holy god, I need to play that". For me that was Oblvion on the 360 (not a launch title) so I held off on picking up the system for a year or two. This console will be successful when the Nintendo developed games start rolling out. The PS3 had a similar start as I recall - questionable software and insanely overpriced due to cutting-edge hardware (the BD player). In the Wii U's case, I've heard that it's only marginally more powerful than the current gen and that also may be impacting sales. If the graphics were jaw-dropping, that relatively high price tag suddenly seems cheap. Not that I care too much about that sort of thing, but visually sexy things definitely sell. The Wii sold based on innovation and Zelda at launch. I'm also not convinced that the new controller is useful or even beneficial. Another reason that we need some first-party Nintendo games to fully utilize the thing (see Skyward Sword) --- -------------------------------------------------------------------- And what is good, Phaedrus, and what is not good - need we anyone to tell us these things?
Nintendo has nobody to blame but themselves, they went after 'the fad crowd' with Wii and turned their backs on real gamers to make crap like Wii Play and Wii Fit. Their disregard for online sees them way behind its competition and they still haven't made half of the back catalogue available for the the eshops. SNES ON 3DS? GCN on Wii U? --- 3DS friend code: 3652 - 0628 - 9229 XBL, PSN: wisemidds

Yeah, that's true. Having a lot of liabilities isn't very good for a company like Sony. The liabilities that they have would nearly wipe all of their assets clean. http://www.notenoughshaders.com/2012/09/08/the-ten-year-decline-of-sony/ It's a bit old, but you can see where I'm coming from.
As of right now, the Wii u has sold only 10% less than the PS3 had sold at this time after launch (about two months). Just something to think about. And as I recall, Sony actually LOST money on every PS3 sold, considering production costs. The popularity and success of this thing are not determined yet by any means. Give it a year. --- -------------------------------------------------------------------- And what is good, Phaedrus, and what is not good - need we anyone to tell us these things?

I can't blame Nintendo for trying to broaden the gaming market and clearly they were onto something with the massive success the Wii had. Plus, the 'hardcore' chose the PS2 over the GC when you compare the sales of those two consoles, so in many ways the hardcore abandoned Nintendo.
Wii U might be a decent system in a years time or 6 months time. But right now it's a mediocre system with mediocre sales. Deal with it. --- http://i.imgflip.com/enr2.gif
Crimson681 posted... excitebike64 posted...Crimson681 posted...I want to see the Wii-U fail. Because I haven't bought a Nintendo console since the SNES, because I feel like Nintendo betrayed me by making their systems appeal more to little kids. They left the adult gamers, and target pre-teens, and then Sony and Microsoft moved in to fill that void. Nintendo failing in a way would do nothing but prove I was right. Why would anyone older than 6-12 get any entertainment out of Super Mario World? See, I think most of your thoughts are imaginary and not based on much of anything. Games will change, be it hardcore or casual. Can't wait to laugh when both PS4 and xbox will have games pushed more towards the casual crowd. All three will have this, and frankly the 360 already has a lot of this. All 3 will have a mix of both game types. |
