Is the Wii U version confirmed to have a digital version launching on release date?

If they're doing it for majority of the retail games, then I have a feeling they'll do the same for MH.

Makes sense, considering it is a major release for capcom, but it would still suck to have to wait longer.

This site says so, hopefully since I plan on downloading.

Look inside the box, live outside of it.

I would love to buy it digitally unfortunately the E-shop prices are ridiculous so I'll just order it online for cheaper.

Well I know I'm putting $10 shop credit toward it, getting $5 back after, so depending on how you look at it, I'm saving $15 off a $60 game. 25% off sounds good to me.

If you ever plan on buying another eShop game (which you will, there'll be some exclusives), then not really. You're not getting a discount, you're still spending $60 on the game.

IMO: I'm caught. On one hand I really value collectors and resale value, having the disk is far more valuable and satisfying, but on the other-hand this is a game you can easily get hundreds of hours in and that's quite some strain on the disk drive and loading times you'd have to deal with.

Then again, the lack of Disk installations is just another inexcusable missing feature and with how easy it is to brick the system (from what I've heard), having your games depend on whether or not you can recover your purchases with a phone-call to Nintendo (and I've heard something about needing a police report if it was stolen?) is yet again another slack by Nintendo. When the only benefits to digital downloads are only because Nintendo is, as mentioned, slacking, it hardly seems fair.

Honestly I think the best bet is to pre-order from Capcom's website, you get a free Classic Controller. It's not much but it's better than paying full-price for a download.
