Whoa Wait, Nintendo is actually making us rebuy the VC games we own?

This is ridiculous

Why does Nintendo do everything half assed?

It's a freakin Digital Game that obviously they know we own, because they are offering a discount.

This is pitiful, why can't they do like Sony, if you purchase a Digital PS1 game, you can play it on your PS3, your PSP, or your Vita (still working on vita compatibility)

Not only that, but you can share the game saves between all the devices so you can pick up and play it anytime.

Why the hell can't Nintendo do this? There is no reason we shouldn't be able to do the same.

I'm glad I only own about 20 VC games, mainly for this very reason because I didn't trust Nintendo to handle their digital transition from Wii to WiiU correctly.

I feel bad for some users like one guy on these boards who has like 500 VC games.

It's 1 dollar....I'd understand if they're making you rebuy them at full price but it's literally 1 dollar or 1.50. Don't buy a cookie at lunch and then you can repurchase your game.

For Off TV play,
Miiverse being added in.

And although it's up in the air until they specify, from what I could tell the 30 cent trials are just that: trials.

Answer: Same reason purchases are system-bound rather than account-bound.

Nintendo apologists will naturally excuse it for being 'only $1', but when you're paying 20-25% of the game's original price for Nintendo to allow your NES rom to run on a the new system..guess suckers like those are why they do it?

Yeah for a $1 - 1.50 on a new console. Sounds like a good deal to me. If you don't like it, there's always Wii mode.

They're upgraded versions, so they aren't "VC games we own."

Oh it has added features? Didnt expect that. That almost makes it worth it.
Metroid Zero Mission and Super Metroid are some of the finest 2D games ever made and are the best in the series.
Metroid Fusion is pretty cool I guess.

This, Hell for the upgrades THE FANS WISHED FOR AND NINTENDO ACTUALLY OBLIGING TO, the premium is about as reasonable as can be, a technical miracle considering the age of the hardware the data is being transferred from to begin with.

You're paying for gamepad support, off TV play, and Miiverse involvement.

No matter how you spin it, $1-1.50 isn't terrible. It's not "rebuying". You're not paying anywhere near full price.

BUT I think $5-6 (NES) and $8-9 (SNES) is a bit high; always have. makes me afraid to see how much they're gonna want for Gamecube VC games in the future. I'd like to see 3, 5, 8, 10 for NES, SNES, N64, GC. More than that and I won't be purchasing very many VC games.
