If only Nintendo got it as much as Sony and Microsoft do! I mean, they'd be bankrupt by now because their systems wouldn't have sold anything and they'd have lost billions, but internet trolls would be happy!

I think that this Nintendo Direct was bad. Not only with the announcements of three games that will not be system sellers (Yoshi Yarn, SMTxFE, and the new Xenoblade game), but the announcement of a new Zelda game has me worried since Aonuma said that one of the things he will change is the single-player aspects of Zelda. I'm sorry to say this for Xenoblade and the SMT/Fire Emblem crossover, but unless the title has Final Fantasy a JRPG will not sell extremely well. So far, we got announcements that only cater to the shrinking hardcore base and not to the mass audience. This is why the Wii U is not selling, except for NSMBU there are no games for non-hardcore people. This Direct has convinced me to not buy a Wii U for a while. I'll stick with my 3DS since there are a few games I would like to get.

Amazing post right here.

Lol! Why are you Nintendrones mad that your system is flopping? The wii u sucks right now. It will always suck. I'm sorry but you must live with that fact

Calling other people you disagree with "Nintendrones" is CLEARLY the best way to get a legitimate discussion going.

Wait, never mind, that's not actually what you were trying to do. Carry on then.

I wouldn't have needed to repeat what I said if you read the post LITERALLY RIGHT ABOVE YOURS.

Since you didn't, I figured I might as well not put anymore effort into my post than you put into yours.

Anyways, if you'd like to have a legitimate discussion about the Wii U, I'm completely up for it.

The hardcore base is not shrinking, where did you hear that? About Zelda, Aonuma did not explicitly mention multiplayer. He could as well have been talking about forming an in-game party like in RPGs. He said they were rethinking Zelda and judging from what he said and his track record I don't really see anything to be worried about. And this is coming from someone who was a bit disappointed by Skyward Sword, been there done that.

It's true that the most money can be made by targetting the mass audience but if every company did that they would lose their long time and most faithful fans. That's why it is important (especially for Nintendo) to give the hardcore base a few things to look forward to.

If you are posting on this site I bet you are no casual gamer so why are you disappointed by the lack of casual games? PS2 and the Wii have expanded the console market substantially but the hardcore base has always been there, N64 and GCN are both proof enough that a console doesn't need stellar 3rd party support and the mass audience in order to be a worthwhile investment for ANY hardcore gamer.

I know why you care about sales, more sales mean more 3rd party support. However, this is a Nintendo console we are talking about. This automatically gives the Wii U a number of quality titles, a number of which potential system sellers. Unless....you don't like Nintendo games, in which case I have no clue why you post on this board.

Because he actually has reasons for not liking the Wii U? Because he's saying it as an opinion instead of misusing the word "fact"?

In that case, I agree. You could learn something from him.

Not to butt in, but you know what?

I agree with you 100%, 2wingedangel.

That user came it here and calmly stated his complaints while not blindly bashing the Wii U. At no point did he call anyone "desperate" or "Nintendrones". At no time did he start going "lol, it's all your fault the Wii U is failing."

He actually made a legitimate argument and did so in a calm and polite way.

I commend him, and I commend you for point it out.

A LOT of people on this board could learn a lot from this.

I wonder if Westonticklee has it in him to make that much of an eloquent and calm post of discussion. I'd certainly like to see one so he can be part of the discussion as well.

Also, to add to shonenninja's post, I agree that none of those games are mainstream system sellers. As far as Zelda, it's just so far away that we'll have to wait and see what exactly they mean.

It's clearly wrong though. First of all, the Wii U is selling well. No, it won't outsell PS3 and 360 all the time because they're at the high point in their sales curve, but it is drastically beating how much they sold when they were new.

Secondly, the part about casuals is massively wrong as well. Casuals already have NintendoLand and NSMBU. They're also getting Mario Kart, Wii U Party, Yoshi's Yarn, and Wii Fit U*. That right there is pretty much the strongest casual lineup possible, most of those games sold 30+ million on Wii. Casuals don't buy a lot of games, even if this is all they ever release it's enough to secure the causal base.

*Note before people flip out: there's nothing to say that ONLY casuals play these games, but they have huge appeal to casuals

And now back to the franchises they showed. Xenoblade sold well and is one of the most highly acclaimed games in a really long time. There's a reason people went nuts when a sequel to that was shown and if you think that's not a selling point you've obviously been living under a rock because even the Sony camp loves that game. Shin Megami Tensei and Fire Emblem are both also very popular with hardcore gamers and both franchises are only getting more popular in the US all the time. Even if these games only sell like 500k by themselves (though Zelda, Mario, and Smash will all sell 5 million at least), securing hardcore gamers is important because each hardcore gamer buys like 30+ games (whereas most casuals only buy 5 or so).

Long story short: It was an excellent conference and Nintendo will do just fine.

After seeing what games were revealed at the Nintendo Direct event, it is further proof that Nintendo doesn't "get it."

The gaming market has shifted to online, yet Nintendo runs the same strategy that they have been running for the past 15 years. Wow another Xenoblade game (Not a killer app), another Epic Yarn game (who cares) Wii Party (the 99th installment of a party game), and to top it off, Wind Waker.

Sorry folks, Nintendo just doesn't get it. I'm trying to tell you, the sooner this thing fails, the quicker we will see Nintendo upgrade their hardware, go all in on online, and go back to making Mario and Zelda as good as they were in the 64 days.

doesn't "get it"

explain doesn't get it? Sounds like you hate the company because they don't market specifically to you.... You do know that gamers such as yourself a VERY small segment of gamers, don't you?

Nintendo does what makes money. If they catered their system to you they would end up like Sony and never turn a profit on the system.
