We're getting a new Metroid... port with Super Metroid via the trial campaign.

Metroid is not a big seller for them. MP3 sold 1.5 million copies worldwide. Wii Play sold 30 mil.

I think now you understand why they are working on a new Wii Play, and not a new Metroid.

Wii Play isn't a fair comparison, it was $10 and bundled with Wiimotes.

If I were Nintendo, I would keep Metroid from the fans, because all the fans did, was whine about the changes of Other M (I liked the game). Spoiled brats - in my opinion - don't deserve their toys. They deserve to have them taken away, until they can learn to appreciate what they were given, despite not being owed anything.

The Metroid fandom gets what it deserves, in my opinion.

That doesnt matter. It's still a videogame that sold significantly more than Metroid. 1.5 mil is pretty pathetic. Halo triples that in preorders alone.

Metroid is not a big franchise anymore. It just isnt, and the success of a console really doesnt hinge on any Metroid games that most people dont seem to care about buying anyway.

The Metroid series has fans but it's never been a big system seller. Since Metroid debuted in 1986, the series has only sold 14 million games worldwide compared to Mario's 446.53 million.
