I'm from the U.S. so it doesn't effect me, but you would have to think the reason pal gets 50Hz is for the people who haven't made the jump to HD and still have SDTV, and it would probably be to much effort and resources to distribute two different versions for the pal region.

Nintendo is not the only company doing this, Sony is selling 50Hz games on PSN too. But here's the funny thing, quite a few of the PS1 games on EU PSN are in fact the NTSC versions! Spyro 1-3 and RE3 for example are only available as the US version on EU PSN. So in the case of Sony it has nothing to do with possibly alienating certain users who are behind the times.

Nintendo also has a few JPN games available on the Wii, Sin and Punishment for example and it has a nice disclaimer that it only runs on 60Hz compatible TV models. There is absolutely no reason at all NOT to give PAL gamers the option to download the 60Hz version.

Besides, I don't think there are many 50Hz only TV's around anymore if that's holding them back it's ridiculous.

Signed, altough it doesn't really bother me that much. There's also way more of these posts on MiiVerse, and that's what Nintendo is listening. Post there too!

PAL TVs have supported 60Hz since.....a very long time ago. I used to have a 14-inch cheap TV bought in 1990, and it supported 60Hz. So that's not really the issue. There's actually been several 60Hz-only games released in Europe - including by Nintendo. Metroid Prime 2 on the GameCube was 60Hz only, not 50Hz, and that was in an era where some small number of people might actually have had TVs that didn't support 60Hz. Nowadays the chances of a PAL TV not supporting 60Hz is incredibly minimal.

Doubt it'll work, but I'll sign just in-case.

Well, for a while when HDTV's were on the market here, most of them were only 50 Hz as well though. But most SDTV's you could get by then already had 60 Hz functionality.

I am incredibly dubious that there were 50Hz-only HDTVs sold in any considerable numbers. I'm not going to say that you're definitely wrong, but I would very much like to see proof of that.
